Defiance, OH. - The Manchester Spartan Football Team traveled to Defiance, OH to take on Defiance College in their Final Non-Conference match up of the season.
The Spartans fell to the Yellow Jackets 35-3.
Manchester 3, Defiance 35
The Spartans fell in their battle against former HCAC foe Defiance College, however even though the result was in favor of Defiance, the Spartans defense stood their ground and finished strong. Senior defensive end
Jaylen Grimes (Goulds, Fla., Christopher Columbus) earned HCAC Defensive Player of the Week Honors for his efforts that include two sacks, two tackles for loss, 10 total tackles, and a forced fumble that was caused in the 2nd quarter.Â
In the 3rd Quarter, Manchester got the ball and was able to drive down the field thanks to a couple of 10+ yard rushes from Senior running back
Cameron Hovey (Sheridan, Ind., Sheridan), this would set the Spartans up for a 33 yard field goal from
Diego Moguel (Frankfort, Ind.)Â that would give the Black & Gold their only points on the day.Â
Manchester finished the game with three sacks, four tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, and a
Dave Paul (Dearborn, Mich., Annapolis) interception.
The Spartans look to start conference play strong as they host Bluffton University on October 12 for their first HCAC game of the year.Â
