Tiffin, OH. - The Manchester Men's Basketball team traveled to Tiffin, Ohio to compete in the Ron Linhart Memorial Tournament this past weekend.
The Spartans ended the trip 1-1 and a 2nd place finish.
Manchester 92, Heidelberg 88
In game one of the tournament the Spartan offense proved to be too much for the Student Princes as the Spartans would put up 92 points. The Spartans took their first lead of the game with 7:15 to go in the first half and never trailed after that. As a team, Manchester shot 58% from 3, combining for 14 made three pointers.
Zach Sawyer (Columbus, Ohio, Bishop Watterson) led the team in scoring, rebounds, and assists where he finished with 28/12/8 as well as having one block and one steal.
Bryant Smith (West Lafayette, Ind., Harrison) and
Logan Willoughby (Greenwood, Ind., Whiteland Community) would each finish 3-5 from three pointers and the Spartans would advance to the championship game.Â
Manchester 84, Wisc. Oshkosh 90
In the championship game, the Spartans jumped out to an early lead going into the half up by 10. The UW Oshkosh offense would come out storming in the 2nd half putting up 62 points and beating the Spartans by six.
Bryant Smith led the team in points with 24 including going 4-8 from downtown. Smith also added four steals on the game.
Clay McCorkle (Converse, Ind, Oak Hill) also got in on the three ball where he shot 4-5 from beyond the arc.
