Women's Basketball Falls in Season Finale Against Anderson

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. - The Manchester University women's basketball team fell short in the regular season finale against Anderson University by a score of 85-69 on Friday, February 16.

After being down 8-2 in the opening minutes of Friday night's game, the Spartans put together an 8-2 run to tie the game at 10 apiece with 5:44 on the clock. The score was tied two more times before first-year Kinsey Atkins (Warsaw, Ind., Triton) drained a three-pointer to give the Black and Gold a 24-21 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Spartans and Ravens would trade baskets to start the second quarter of action. Manchester would take a five-point lead with 6:33 on the clock. Anderson would answer, tying the score at 32-32 with just under five minutes left to play in the first half. The Ravens would take a narrow 40-39 lead at the half. Anderson would maintain a lead throughout the second half of Friday night's game, before pulling away for an 85-69 victory.

As a team, the Spartans shot 35.3% from the field and 80% from the free-throw line. Leading the way for the Spartans was Abigail Rosenkrans (Pendleton, Ind., Pendleton Heights) with her second double-double of this season with 17 points and 14 rebounds. Madison Stamm (Fortville, Ind., Anderson Prep) finished the night with 17 points, while Mia Shields (Arcadia, Ind., Hamilton Heights) scored 10 points for the Black and Gold.

Bella Larisson led the Ravens with 18 points. Anderson had three other players in double digits including Izzy Davis with 17 points off the bench. As a team, Anderson shot 48.4% from the field, 45.8% from three-point range, and 82.4% from the free throw line. The Ravens finish sixth in the HCAC standings with a record of 12-14 overall and 8-10 in conference.

The Manchester University women's basketball concluded the 2023-2024 season with an overall record of 7-18 and a conference record of 4-14.
