MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.- The Manchester University baseball team concluded a strong three days of play in Myrtle Beach, S.C. on Monday, March 4.

Manchester opened play against Keystone College of Pennsylvania on Saturday, March 2nd. The Spartans fell short against the Giants by a final score of 12-13.

The Spartans returned to action Sunday, March 3Â against Bridgewater State University of Massachusetts. The Spartans and Bears were tied 2-2 through 6 innings. Bridgewater would pull ahead in the top of the 9th inning after scoring two runs. The Spartans' efforts came up just short in the bottom of the 9th as Bridgewater State took a 4-2 victory.Â

After losing two close games, Manchester bounced back Sunday evening against Eastern Nazarene College. Manchester was trailing 3-1 in the bottom of the 6th inning, until the Spartans were able to bring in four runs making it 5-3. Manchester would go on to win their first game of the weekend 7-4.

On the final day of the Spartans' Myrtle Beach trip, they competed in a double header against the Highlanders of Cairn University, on Monday, March 4. Manchester lost their first game 2-1, but would finish the day strong with an impressive 9-4 win, scoring five runs in the first inning.

The Black and Gold concluded their trip by going 2-3 on the weekend.

The Spartans (3-4) will return to Indiana this weekend and are scheduled to play Depauw University in a three-game series at Bishop Chatard High School in Indianapolis, Ind. First pitch on Saturday is scheduled for noon. Game time for Sunday is also scheduled for noon.
