Box Score 4 Sandusky, OH - The Manchester Spartans Women's Volleyball team traveled to Sandusky, Ohio to compete in the Great Lakes Crossover Tournament where they competed in four matches across two days. The Spartans would finish the weekend 2-2.
Match 1: MU 3, LeTourneau 2
The Spartans prevailed in match one winning 3-2 over LeTourneau University.
Joy Maze (Greenwood, Ind., Greenwood Community) stood out on the attacking end with 17 kills and 3 aces, with some help from
Jessica Tarr (Fort Wayne, Ind., Snider) who had 15 kills as well as 3 assisted blocks. On a defensive side,
Lily Lichtenbarger (South Bend, Ind., New Prairie) locked down the net recording 6 total blocks while
Emma Tone (Fort Wayne, Ind., Bishop Dwenger) laid the ground work, recording 5 digs and 13 Set assists.Â
Match 2: MU 0, John Carroll 3
In match two, the Spartans dropped their first match of the season 0-3,
Lichtenbarger again shined on defense recording 3 solo blocks and 4 block assists. She also competed on offense hitting a .333 attack percentage. The Spartans move forward to take on Grove City the next day.
Match 3: MU 3, Grove City 2
In match three we saw the Spartans under pressure early, going down 2 sets to 0. however the Spartans would rally and complete the comeback to win the match 3-2.
Avery Ball (Decatur, Ind., Belmont) led the way with 21 points, 15 kills, 4 service aces, 4 block assists, and 8 digs.The Spartans 14 aces and 15 blocks helped spark a comeback and improve the Black & Gold to 2-1 on the season.
Match 4: MU 0, Allegheny 3
In the final match of the weekend the Spartans fell zero sets to three against Allegheny College. The Spartans fought each set to the end, crossing the 20 point line every time, however Allegheny was able to fight them off in the end. MU offense was led byÂ
