Spartans Roll in Season Opener

North Manchester, Ind. - Manchester University's Women's Basketball team opened the 2025–26 season in dominant fashion, rolling past Westminster (PA) 89–49 on Saturday night at Stauffer-Wolfe Arena. 

The Spartans set the tone early with a fast-paced first quarter, jumping out to a 27–7 lead behind sharp perimeter shooting and active defense that forced numerous Westminster turnovers. Manchester maintained its momentum in the second period, extending the advantage to 52–23 by halftime thanks to efficient ball movement and strong transition play.

Abigail Rosenkrans led the charge with 29 points on 13-of-17 shooting, including three makes from long range, while adding five rebounds and six steals. Hailee Kline followed with 22 points, connecting on four three-pointers and six free throws to keep the offense rolling. Sam Redinger contributed 11 points with three triples, and Madysen Rees added 8 points and four rebounds off the bench. Inside, Hannah Holmes provided stability with eight rebounds, and Kendal Rider distributed six assists while helping to fuel the Spartans' fast tempo.

Manchester's offense was efficient, shooting 52 percent from the field and 52 percent from beyond the arc while collecting 21 assists on 34 made baskets. Defensively, the Spartans forced 25 turnovers and turned them into 33 points, while limiting Westminster to just 31 percent shooting.

The Spartans never looked back in the second half, maintaining their intensity and balance across the roster. With strong shooting, unselfish play, and lockdown defense, Manchester began its new campaign with an impressive 89–49 victory and a 1–0 start to the season.
