North Manchester, Ind. - The Manchester University Tennis teams hosted Berea College for their final match of the year on Senior Day this past weekend.
Avin Demaso (South Bend, Ind., Riley),
Anna Hollingsworth (New Castle, Ind., Blue River Valley), and
Aiden Richardson (Knightstown, Knightstown) were all acknowledged with their hard work and dedication over the past four years.
Both Spartans teams came up victorious with the Men taking down Berea 6-1 and the Women winning 4-3.
Manchester Men's Tennis 6, Berea 1
To get things started, at #2 Doubles
Andrew Schrier (Avon, Ind., Danville) and
Rabon Forrest (Fort Wayne, Ind., Leo) handled Berea 6-2 while at #3 Doubles
Aiden Richardson and
Omar Lemus (Portage, Ind., Portage) came up with a swift 6-0 win to secure the doubles point.
The Spartans did not stop there as they would take 5/6 of the Singles points in the match with wins from Forrest at #2,
Anthony Bau (North Judson, Ind., North Judson - San Pierre) at #3, Lemus at #4, Schrier at #5, and Richardson at #6.
Manchester Women's Tennis 4, Berea 3
Berea was able to take an early lead winning the #1 and #2 doubles matches putting them up 1-0, however Manchester was able to bounce back with two forfeits and a win from
Anna Hollingsworth 6-4, 6-3 at the #2 Singles spot and
Alivia Paul (Twelve Mile, Ind., Caston) with a bounce back win of 5-7, 6-1, 6-0 at the #3 Singles spot to secure the Spartans first victory on the year.
