Spartans Sweep Mountaineers

Berea, KY - Manchester University's men's and women's tennis teams both delivered victories on Sunday afternoon on the road at Berea College, with the men winning 6-1 and the women winning 6-0. The men secured their first conference win of the season while the women celebrated their first victory of the year.

The Manchester men set the tone early and never looked back, rolling past Berea to earn their first Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference win of the spring. The Spartans jumped out in front by sweeping doubles play, capturing momentum before dominating singles action.

Manchester opened the match with convincing doubles wins at the top two positions. Henry Blakley and Rabon Forrest started things off with a 6–2 win at No. 1, followed by Andrew Schrier and Anthony Bau, who breezed to a 6–0 victory at No. 2 to clinch the doubles point.

That momentum carried straight into singles, where Manchester claimed five of six matches. Blakley responded with a strong 6–2, 6–1 victory at No. 2, while Schrier followed with a 6–2, 6–2 decision at No. 3. Bau was nearly flawless at No. 4, posting a 6–0, 6–0 win, and Omar Lemus closed out the team victory with a 6–0, 6–2 triumph at No. 5.

The Spartans' depth proved decisive as Manchester claimed the match by a 6–1 final score, giving the program a much-needed breakthrough in league play and building momentum heading into the final stretch of the conference schedule.

On the women's side, Manchester put together its most complete performance of the season, earning a decisive 6–0 win at Berea for the program's first victory of the year.

The Spartans made an immediate statement in doubles. Grace Keener and Jordyn Riegle picked up a key 6–4 win at No. 1, while Rylee Clevenger and Sydnee Miller dominated the No. 2 position with a 6–0 result to give Manchester an early lead.

Singles play saw the Spartans maintain control across the lineup. Keener battled through a three-set match at No. 1, responding after dropping the second set to earn a 6–1, 2–6, 6–1 win. Clevenger was dominant at No. 2 with a 6–0, 6–0 victory, while Riegle followed with a 6–3, 6–2 decision at No. 3. Miller closed out the scoring at No. 4, winning 6–3, 7–5 as Manchester completed the sweep.
