Spartans Drop Rainy Home Match

North Manchester, Ind. - Manchester dropped a tight 1–0 decision to Adrian on Saturday afternoon at Good Field despite a disciplined defensive effort and a handful of looks in front of goal. After a scoreless first half anchored by goalkeeper Will Martin—who made two stops before the break—the Spartans were undone in the 55th minute when Adrian's Kyle Peterson finished a counter off an assist from keeper Eli Sizemore. Martin finished with five saves overall, keeping Manchester within striking distance to the final whistle.

The Spartans generated seven shots (three on frame) and five corners, with their best chances coming from Chris Wilson early (14') and Hayden Ettner just before halftime (43'), both turned away by Sizemore, and a low strike from Nick Merrion at 66' that was also saved. Andrew Hochstettler and Edwin Rodriguez each tested from range in the second half, while Christian Munos pushed a chance just wide left. Manchester's back line—Aiden Bryant, Brodie Borries, Cole Spagna and Edwin Rodriguez—weathered 11 Adrian corners and 13 shots to keep the match within one. Alan Galvez received a yellow card in the 55th minute as the game opened up, but the Spartans continued to press, earning late corners in the 83rd and 89th minutes that couldn't find an equalizer.

Manchester will look to create more offensive firepower this Wednesday as they travel to Olivet to take on the Comets, 4:30 PM start.
