North Manchester, Ind. - Manchester returned to Good Field on September 17, but the night proved challenging as Huntington controlled the match from start to finish in an 11-0 result.
The Spartans faced heavy offensive pressure right from kickoff. Huntington opened the scoring just six minutes in and quickly piled on goals throughout the first half. Despite the constant attack, Manchester's back line and goalkeeper
Reagan Claus battled to keep the scoreline manageable early. Claus recorded five saves before being substituted late in the first half for
Vicki Moorman, who stepped in to face the continued barrage. In the second period, Manchester regrouped defensively and tried to settle into possession. Midfielders like
Delaney Kelly and
Lily DeTray worked hard to generate forward movement, with Kelly putting one of the Spartans' two shots on target. Moorman added four more saves in net, showing resilience against Huntington's aggressive attack. Defenders
Bella Flores,
Jameela Hydre Yusoff, and
Sian Rogers logged heavy minutes, anchoring the back line.
Though the result was lopsided, the Spartans showed grit in stretches and continued development from young players across the field. With conference play approaching, Manchester will aim to build on the experience and turn their defensive toughness into opportunities going forward. Manchester travels to Lansing, MI to take on Great Lakes Christian this Saturday, 3:00 PM start.
