North Manchester, Ind. - Manchester men's soccer turned in its most complete performance of the season, cruising to a 5–0 shutout victory over Ohio Christian at Good Field. The win pushed the Spartans to 1–4–3 on the year and gave them momentum heading into the next stretch of the season.
The Spartans wasted no time taking control, scoring three times in the opening 25 minutes.
Alan Galvez got things rolling in the 13th minute, finishing off a setup from
Andrew Hochstettler. Hochstettler then doubled the lead ten minutes later, this time assisted by
Hayden Ettner, before
Cole Spagna capped the explosive start in the 25th minute, slotting home a goal with helpers from Ettner and
Larry Cox. Manchester kept the pressure on after halftime.
Edwin Rodriguez added a fourth goal in the 53rd minute, and Galvez tallied his second of the match in the 81st minute to seal the 5–0 win. The Spartans' offense peppered the Ohio Christian defense with 15 total shots, 10 of which were on target.
Defensively, Manchester was solid throughout, limiting Ohio Christian to just four total shots and two on frame. Goalkeeper Will Martin recorded two first-half saves to earn the clean sheet. The back line, anchored by Dana Lewis, Larry Cox, and Cole Spagna, controlled the tempo and cut off passing lanes to preserve the shutout.
This was a breakout performance for the Spartans' attack, highlighted by Galvez's brace and multi-assist efforts from Ettner. With five different players factoring into the scoring, Manchester showcased depth and balance across its lineup. The convincing result gives the Spartans confidence heading into conference play as they travel to Earlham next Saturday.
