Spartans Bury Polar Bears

North Manchester, Ind. -

Manchester turned in a dominant performance at Stauffer-Wolfe Arena on Tuesday night, defeating Ohio Northern in straight sets (25–16, 25–18, 25–17). With the win, the Spartans moved to 9–7 on the season, riding a balanced attack and solid team defense to close out the match efficiently.

The Spartans' offense was led by Adelyn Figley, who was nearly unstoppable at the net. Figley posted a match-high 14 kills on just 22 swings, hitting an impressive .591. She also added 2 solo blocks and totaled a team-best 16 points.
Avery Ball added 9 kills and 6 digs, while Kaitlyn Smith chipped in 4 kills and 2 blocks. Middle hitter Lily Lichtenbarger was efficient, tallying 4 kills and 3 blocks with a .364 hitting percentage. Setting duties were split effectively between Mariah Forbes (16 assists, 5 digs) and Morgan Howard (14 assists, 4 kills, 4 service aces). Their balanced distribution kept ONU's defense on its heels.

Manchester's serving game played a major role in the sweep. The Spartans recorded 7 aces, with Howard leading the way from the line, while Tiffany Watterson added 2 aces and contributed 10 digs in the back row.
Defensively, the Spartans held Ohio Northern to a hitting percentage of just .120. Manchester tallied 34 digs as a team, with solid backcourt contributions from Watterson, Forbes, and Ball. At the net, they matched ONU with 7 total blocks, highlighted by Lichtenbarger and Figley's presence in the middle.

This was one of Manchester's most complete performances of the season. The Spartans combined .354 team hitting efficiency with sharp serving and steady defense to overwhelm Ohio Northern. With their record now above .500, the Spartans will look to carry this momentum into conference play.
