Berea, KY - Manchester Women's Basketball dropped an HCAC road game at Berea on Saturday afternoon, falling 83-62 at Seabury Center.
The Spartans hung tough early and were tied 19-19 late in the first quarter before Berea closed the period on a 3-pointer to take a 22-19 lead. Manchester stayed within striking distance into halftime (45-36) behind strong interior work and second-chance opportunities, but Berea's pressure and transition attack took over after the break. The Mountaineers won the third quarter 20-10 to stretch the margin, then kept control the rest of the way to secure the win.
Hannah Holmes powered Manchester with 23 points and nine rebounds, going 7-for-14 from the floor and 9-for-9 at the line.
Clair Klinger added 16 points and knocked down four triples, while
Maddi Smith posted a strong all-around line with four points, seven rebounds, two assists, and two blocks.
Sam Redinger chipped in six points with a pair of threes, and
Kinsey Atkins contributed three points, three assists, and two steals.
As a team, Manchester generated 22 points in the paint and got to the free-throw line 18 times, but struggled to find consistency from the field (21-for-69) while battling Berea's defense, which forced 14 turnovers and turned them into points. The Spartans did a nice job on the glass with 44 rebounds—including 22 offensive boards—but Berea countered with efficient shooting (33-for-67), 42 points in the paint, and 21 fast-break points to pull away.
