Terre Haute, Ind. - Manchester battled down to the final minutes but came up just short in a 67–62 loss to
Rose-Hulman on Wednesday night.
Manchester controlled the first half defensively, holding Rose-Hulman to just six points in the second quarter and taking a 27-20 advantage into halftime. The Spartans generated offense off pressure (11 steals) and leaned on their interior scoring (36 points in the paint), but Rose-Hulman flipped the game coming out of the break with a 26-point third quarter to seize momentum. Manchester answered in the fourth—
Clair Klinger knocked down a three early in the period to give the Spartans a 47-46 lead, and the game stayed tight with multiple lead changes—but Rose-Hulman got to the line late and closed it out.
Abi Rosenkrans paced Manchester with 18 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double while adding two blocks and three steals. Kayla Gibbs finished with 13 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals, and Maddi Smith provided a spark off the bench with 11 points and four steals. Klinger added eight points and hit a pair of threes. Manchester shot 24-of-57 from the field, forced 18 turnovers, and scored 21 points off takeaways, but 23 turnovers of its own and Rose-Hulman's 14-for-16 night at the free-throw line proved costly down the stretch.
