Cincinnati, OH - Manchester Men's Basketball fell on the road Saturday afternoon, dropping a 90-65 HCAC decision to Mt. St. Joseph.
The Spartans were right there early and traded blows throughout the opening half, but MSJ's three-point shooting swung the game. Manchester led briefly and stayed within striking distance for much of the first 20 minutes behind Ty Lynas' aggressive downhill attacks and steady shot-making from Clay McCorkle. Still, the Lions buried 10 first-half threes and carried a 44-34 lead into the break.
Manchester continued to compete after halftime and got a big scoring day from Lynas, who finished with a game-high 31 points on 12-of-26 shooting while adding three assists and hitting 6-of-8 at the line. McCorkle added 15 points, and the Spartans got efficient minutes from Wyatt Weaver (7 points on 3-for-3 shooting) and a key board presence from Logan Brace, who pulled down eight rebounds. Manchester also protected the ball well, committing just four turnovers, and did most of its damage inside with 36 points in the paint.
Ultimately, Mt. St. Joseph's perimeter barrage and overall efficiency proved too much to overcome. The Lions drilled 16 three-pointers, shot 33-for-55 from the field, and piled up 21 assists, stretching the margin in the second half to close out the win.
