DEFIANCE, Ohio — Manchester defeated Defiance College (OH) 2-1 on Tuesday. Manchester scored both of its goals in the second half and withstood eight Defiance College (OH) attacking actions from 57:04 to 68:06 without conceding.
Manchester's clearest scoring chance of the first half came at 29:43, when
Alan Galvez took a penalty kick that Tyler Harper saved. Earlier, Manchester earned three
Axel Bonilla corner kicks between 11:01 and 18:57 and followed with saved shots by Bonilla and
Fola Afolayan.
Will Martin made two saves in the opening nine minutes, and the half ended 0-0.
Manchester opened the scoring in the second half when Afolayan finished Galvez's assist at 53:37, and
Quentin Taylor added another Galvez-assisted goal at 67:06 to give Manchester a 2-0 lead. Defiance College (OH) answered with Henrique Wozniak's penalty kick at 73:19, but Martin made three saves in the half as Manchester finished off a 2-1 win.
Taylor scored on his only shot and was credited with the game-winning goal. Afolayan recorded Manchester's first goal and put both of his shots on frame. Galvez tallied two assists and placed his lone shot on goal. Goalkeeper Martin finished with five saves in 88:23.
Manchester is 1-0-0 overall.
