James Amos joined the Manchester University football coaching staff in April 2023. The 2023 season will be Amos's first on the Black and Gold sidelines.
Prior to arriving in North Manchester, Amos spent the last two years with Crown College where he served as the Special Teams Coordinator, Defensive Run Game Coordinator, Strength and Condition Coordinator, Defensive Line, and Linebackers Coach. During his stint with the Polars, the special teams kick off unit ranked third in NCAA Division III in kickoff return defense. Amos also mentored the NCAA Division III leader in kickoff return touchdowns and a two-time All-Upper Midwest Athletic Conference first team honoree.
During the 2020 season, Amos was the Linebackers Coach and Strength and Conditioning Coordinator for Trinity International University. During his time with the Trojans, Amos coached a two-time All-American honoree.
He also served as the Defensive Coordinator at his hometown Potlatch Junior/Senior High School located in Potlatch, Idaho while serving the community as a Special Education Aid.
Amos is an active member of both the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the American Football Coaches Association.
Amos is a graduate of the University of Montana Western, where he competed as a running back and earned two Academic All-Conference awards. After his playing career was over, he continued with the Bulldogs as an Assistant Linebackers Coach and Running Backs Coach for one season each, serving as the Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach both seasons.
