During his second year on the Black and Gold sidelines, four of the seven Spartans who earned All-HCAC honors at the end of the season were defensive players. Senior Devontay Moore earned Second Team All-Conference honors for the second time in his career. Moore led Manchester with 2 forced fumbles and 2.5 sacks on the year. The Black and Gold defensive came away with 10 interceptions with eight forced fumbles and six fumble recoveries.

The Manchester defense showed significant improved during the Fall 2021 campaign. Seven of the 10 Spartans who earned All-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference honors at the end of the season came on defensive side of the ball. Cornerback Jaquan Walker and linebacker Jalen Masden were named Second Team All-HCAC. Four defensive lineman picked up Honorable Mention All-HCAC honors. The Spartan defense also produced three HCAC Defensive Player of the Week Awards. The Black & Gold defense came away with nine interceptions this fall.

Prior to arriving in North Manchester, Rouse held a strength and conditioning internship at the University of Alabama following the 2019 season. In his time with the Crimson Tide, Rouse co-facilitated strength, speed, and conditioning workouts. He also assisted with implementation of NFL Combine preparation. Alabama captured the 2020 Citrus Bowl.

Prior to his stint in Tuscaloosa, Rouse spent five years as the defensive line coach and strength and conditioning coordinator at Valparaiso University. Additionally, Rouse has had coaching stops at Eastern Michigan, Concordia (Mich.) and Birmingham Groves (Mich.) High School.
