Vann Hunt

Hunt was officially named the 16th head football coach in Manchester history in April 2023. In his first season at the helm of the program, the Spartans garnered nine All-HCAC honors, including three First Team All-HCAC honorees Josiah Ansorena-Smith (return specialist), Jaylen Grimes (defensive lineman), and Jamaal Hubbard (linebacker). Devontay Moore and Jaylen Grimes were also named to the D3football.com National Team of the Week this season. Hunt concluded the season with an overall record of 1-9, including a dominating performance over rival Anderson University to reclaim the coveted Bronze Ball trophy. 

Hunt was also named to a 35 under 35 Participant by the AFCA. The AFCA 35 Under 35 Coaches Leadership Institute is a prestigious program aimed at identifying and developing premier, future leaders in the football coaching profession

Hunt comes to North Manchester after spending the past seven years with the Allegheny College football program in Meadville, Pennsylvania. Hunt served in various roles at Allegheny, including Recruiting coordinator, Special Teams coordinator, Co-Offensive Coordinator, and Defensive Coordinator, as well as two stints as Interim Head Coach.During Hunt's time with the Gators, Allegheny’s Kickoff Return Unit ranked 8th in NCAA DIII in 2018, and in 2019 the Gators' Punt Return Unit Ranked 13th in NCAA DIII. Hunt has mentored the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Special Teams Player of the Year (2018) and an All-Region Team honoree. Hunt had two athletes finish the year in the top 25 in Division III in blocked kicks. 
 
While working with wide receivers, the Allegheny offense recorded nearly 4,000 yds while Hunt mentored a talented receiving core, including some of the most prolific offensive threats in Division III and Alleghany record breakers.
 
As the Defensive Coordinator, Hunt's defenses saw success finishing as one of the top defenses in the NCAC in takeaways and sacks in 2021. Hunt has mentored four Conference Defensive Players of the week, two D3Football.com Team of the Week Selections, and six All Conference Selections. Hunt has also mentored a number of successful defensive backs twice having athletes finish the year in the top 25 in Division III in pass break-ups. 

A native of Phoenix, Arizona, he was a four-year football athlete at Wabash College in the North Coast Athletic Conference, including earning All-NCAC running back honors in 2011. He helped lead the Little Giants to two NCAA Division III national playoff appearances, as well as the 2011 NCAC championship and an appearance in the Division III Elite Eight. Hunt also competed in track and field where he earned seven All NCAC finishes, three individual NCAC championships, and six NCAC team Championships. He also served on the football teams leadership council, as well as being selected as a team captain for the 2012 track and field team. After graduating from Wabash in 2013 with a degree in rhetoric and minor in religion, Hunt joined the football coaching staff at Olivet Nazarene University in Illinois, taking on a number of key roles while earning his Master of Business Administration in 2015 from Olivet.

Hunt also spent the 2016 season as the wide receivers coach at Bluefield College (Va.). He coached the third- and fourth-leading receivers in the Mid-South Conference, while also serving as co- special teams coordinator and co-recruiting coordinator.

Hunt is an active member of the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), presenting at the organization's national convention in 2018 and again for the 2022 virtual convention. Also having two pieces published in the “This is AFCA” Magazine as well as serving on the DIII Assistant Coach Committee.

In 2023, Hunt was selected as a member of the NCAA/NFL Coaches academy.

Hunt and his wife, Mikka, and their son, Jonnah, and daughter Nayommi, reside in North Manchester.
