Rod Wilmont

Wilmont joined the Spartan staff before the 2017-18 season.

Before arriving in North Manchester, he served one season as the Lakewood Christian High School varsity boys head coach. During his lone season, Wilmont led the Panthers to their first sectional championship in school history and the program's second-best record (18-9). Two of Wilmont’s players went on to play college ball at Anderson University and St. Francis University. From 2014-17, Wilmont was the head coach of the semi-professional Central Basketball Association’s Fort Wayne Flight. He led the Flight to two championships (2016, 2017) and an overall record of 35-10. In 2013-15, he also was on the Fort Wayne Mad Ants staff during which they won an NBA Developmental League title.

Wilmont was a standout on the court, playing his collegiate ball at Indiana University from 2002-2007, under head coaches Mike Davis and Kelvin Sampson. During his time at Indiana, he contributed to three trips to the NCAA Tournament (including a Sweet Sixteen berth). A two-time all-Big Ten defensive team selection, Wilmont was also an overall third team all-Big Ten awardee in 2007. Following his collegiate career, he had stints on the Milwaukee Bucks and New York Knicks’ rosters and played nine years of professional basketball in the European League and NBA Developmental League.

A native of Miramar, Fla., he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice while attending Indiana University.
