NORTH MANCHESTER, IND. – Five wins in the first six weights proved to be the difference for Manchester University Tuesday, Jan. 21.

The Spartans, looking to make senior 197-pounder Jason Pedigo's final home dual be a memorable one, did just that in front of a good crowd at Stauffer-Wolfe Arena. MU's 28-15 victory over its in-state rival marked the program's second such against the Thunder (1-7).

A pin from freshman 165-punder Dylan Lauffer (Fairfield, Ohio) thrown with forfeit wins from sophomore 133-pounder Kalib Jackson (Angola, Ind.) and freshman 157-pounder Collin Wise (Cairo, Ohio) helped move the Black and Gold (4-9) out to a 24-3 lead through 165. Freshman Logan Floor (Sheridan, Ind.) made it official with an 11-1 major decision victory over Shane Hendrickson that was aided by a three-point nearfall late in the opening frame.

Trine rallied back in the final three matches behind a decision at 184, a fall at 197 and a hard-fought decision at heavyweight. Manchester University had opened the evening with a decision win from freshman 125-pounder Alan Mock (Peru, Ind.) and a narrow 2-1 final for sophomore 141-pounder Josh Juarez (South Bend, Ind.) which was sealed with a riding point late in the third period.

MU continues its dual season Saturday, Jan. 25. They take on Concordia University of Wisconsin and UW-Eau Claire in their pool at the UW-Whitewater Border Brawls.

NOTES: Jackson's forfeit win marked back-to-back double-digit win campaigns for the sophomore. His 10 victories are second on the team, trailing only Lauffer's 11 … Juarez, Mock and Wise each climbed with two wins of double figures.
