ANGOLA, IND. – The underclassman duo of sophomore Stratton Smith (New Palestine, Ind.) and freshman Spencer Thomas (Yorktown, Ind.) led the efforts for Manchester University Wednesday, March 11.

Despite being upended by in-state NCAA Division II rival Trine University of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association 9-0, the Black and Gold did see some positives. Smith, playing at number two singles and on the number one doubles pairing, took five games from the Thunder's Nick Cassidy and joined senior Kyle Lahman (North Manchester, Ind.) for a pair of game victories. Thomas battled back from a 6-0 first set loss against TU's Joey Clark at number three singles to force a 6-3 second set final.

The Black and Gold continue their spring season Tuesday, March 25, hosting Indiana University – East. First serve is 4 p.m.
