TERRE HAUTE, IND. – Sophomore Garrett Bear (Indianapolis, Ind.) rolled to a straight-set 6-2, 6-1 win at number six singles, tallying a point for Manchester University Saturday, March 12.

Bear's victory, which evened his 2015-16 season mark at 1-1, led the way for the Spartans against preseason Heartland Collegiate Athletic preseason favorite Rose-Hulman which the Fightin' Engineers claimed 8-1. The sophomore joined another second-year Spartans' player Isaac Collis (Alexandria, Ind.) in narrowly missing a second team point at number three doubles, as the duo picked up four game wins before falling 8-4.

The Black and Gold (0-3, 0-1 HCAC) resumes its 2015-16 calendar Thursday, March 31, with a non-conference visit to Adrian College of Michigan.
