INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – Wrapping up a second successive season in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships, Manchester University was topped in the quarterfinal round of the postseason tourney Friday, May 6.

Third-seeded Transylania University advanced into the semifinals with a 5-0 victory over the Spartans (2-11) at the West Indy Racquet Club. The sophomore duo of Spencer Thomas (Yorktown, Ind.) and Isaac Collis (Alexandria, Ind.) each battled in singles' play, taking three-or-more game victories in either set, while the sophomore doubles pairing of Kyler Love (North Webster, Ind.) and Garrett Bear (Indianapolis, Ind.) claimed three games at the number three slot.

Love's five singles' victories and the top doubles team of junior Stratton Smith (New Palestine, Ind.) and Thomas' four wins led each section for MU in 2015-16. Collis and freshman Connor Eichenauer (North Manchester, Ind.) turned in a strong late-season roll at the second doubles' spot, going 3-4, while Bear, Collis and Eichenauer each turned in three singles' decisions.
