CRAWFORDSVILLE, IND. – Manchester University rolled to 2016-17 dual season wins number three and four as part of the Wabash College Max Servies Duals Saturday, Jan. 21.
MU, moving to 4-11, rolled past Calumet College of St. Joseph 50-6 and Thomas More College of Ohio 45-12 inside Knowling Fieldhouse on Wabash's campus. Coach Kevin Lake's crew just missed picking up a third victory, as Otterbein used two falls, a forfeit and a major decision to hold off the Black and Gold 28-18. Heidelberg ended their afternoon with a 34-9 final in the fourth session.
Junior 141-pounder Chase Wilson (Peru, Ind.), who entered the event ranked No. 7 on D3Wrestle.com, added to his win streak, going 4-0. Moving to 21-2 on the season and upping his skein to 16, Wilson battled past Hayden Bates of Heidelberg 6-4; pinned Damien Walton of Thomas More in 2:50; and received forfeits against Otterbein and CC-SJ. A trio consisting of junior 165-pounder Tristan Wilson (Fort Wayne, Ind.), freshman 174-pounder Isaac Ray (Atlanta, Ind.) and senior 125-pounder Alan Mock (Denver, Ind.) each wound up going 3-1.
The Spartans continue their campaign Friday and Saturday, Jan. 27 and 28. They're part of a large and solid field for the annual Wheaton College of Illinois Pete Willson Invitational.
