Four top sevens guide Spartans at OAC meet

AKRON, OHIO – Sophomore Quinn-Michael L'Heureux (Fort Wayne, Ind.) set a new school record in the 100-yard breaststroke Friday, Feb. 17, topping early performances for Manchester University at the 2017 Ohio Athletic Conference Championships.

Finishing in the top 10 in the pool at Akron University's Ocasek Natatorium, L'Heureux hit the wall in 59.42 seconds, just over two-tenths out of seventh place. His time broke the old mark of 60.45 set by former MU swimmer Andrew Hinds at last year's OAC meet.

L'Heureux's strong resume over the meet's first two days didn't end there. He joined fellow sophomores Guerby Ruuska (Rennselaer, Ind.) and Nathan Koch (Columbia City, Ind.) and freshman Christain Poole (Anderson, Ind.) for a seventh-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay (1:43.31), was part of the same quartet that ended seventh in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:31.63) and was on the same roster in the 400-yard medley relay that also ended seventh (3:53.13).

Poole also made his first OAC meet memorable by ending in the top 15 of the 50-yard freestyle, clocking a 22.2-second effort.

MU, sitting seventh on the team standings with 82 points, wraps up competition at the 2017 OACs Saturday, Feb. 18.
