NORTH MANCHESTER/HANOVER, IND. – Junior Garrett Bear (Indianapolis, Ind.) and freshman Dalton Bailey (Bourbon, Ind.) gained singles' victories, highlighting Manchester University weekend competition Friday and Saturday, April 21 and 22.

Bear tied sophomore Connor Eichenauer (North Manchester, Ind.) sweeping past Bethel College's Bobby Eberle 6-0, 7-6 at the outdoor courts Friday for his third victory. Bailey picked up his first collegiate decision with a forfeit win for the home side's final point of a 7-2 final.

The Spartans (1-8 overall, 1-4 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference) wound up a two-day playing schedule with a 9-0 loss against Hanover College at West Indy Racquet Club Saturday. Senior Stratton Smith (New Palestine, Ind.) and junior Isaac Collis (Indianapolis, Ind.) narrowly missed picking up a team point, falling 8-4 at number one doubles.

Manchester University, looking to end a six-dual skid, seek to remain in the league postseason tournament landscape, hosting Anderson University Tuesday, April 25, and Transylvania University Saturday, April 29.
