Box Score LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Manchester University women's basketball team fell in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action at nationally ranked Transylvania University on Saturday afternoon. The No. 16 Pioneers defeated the Spartans by a final score of 74-48.
Senior wing Nicole Weaver (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead) led the Spartans with 14 points. Weaver made four three-pointers. Miranda Bieghler (Plainfield, Ind./South Putnam) scored in double figures for the fourth straight game, finishing Saturday's game with 12 points in 21 minutes off the bench.
The Pioneers' defense limited Manchester to 32.7% shooting (17-of-52) for the game. MU was also held to 30.8% shooting (8-of-26) from downtown.
Shelby Boyle led TU with 17 points. Three Pioneers scored in double figures for Transylvania. As a team, Transy finished 33-of-77 from the field on Saturday afternoon, good enough for a 42.9% clip.
MU's defense held the Pioneers to just 2-of-24 shooting from three-point territory.
Manchester dropped to 3-4, 0-2 HCAC on the young season. MU will play its third consecutive conference game away from home this Wednesday, December 18, when the team travels to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. Game time against the Fightin' Engineers is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
No. 16 Transylvania improved to 6-1, 2-0 HCAC.
