North Manchester, Ind. - Manchester Men's and Women's Basketball took on Earlham in a Saturday afternoon doubleheader to celebrate senior day.
Women's Game:
Manchester celebrated senior day with an 82-55 HCAC win over Earlham on Saturday afternoon inside Stauffer-Wolfe Arena.
The Spartans set the tone early and never let up, building a 42-17 halftime lead behind pressure defense and quick scoring in transition. Manchester forced nine turnovers in the first half and turned steals into easy points, finishing with 29 fast-break points on the day. Earlham made a push with a 20-point fourth quarter, but the Spartans answered with timely threes and steady free-throw shooting to close it out.
Hailee Kline led the way with 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting, knocking down three triples. Hannah Holmes added 12 points and nine rebounds, while Maddi Smith chipped in 11 points and eight boards. Abi Rosenkrans filled the stat sheet with 12 points, six assists and three steals, and Kinsey Atkins and Kendal Rider combined for 20 points off the bench as Manchester's reserves outscored Earlham's bench 34-27.
Manchester won the glass 50-38, shot 22-of-27 at the free-throw line, and finished with 10 steals while committing just nine turnovers.
Men's Game:
Manchester held off a late push from Earlham to earn a 77-70 HCAC win Saturday at Stauffer Wolfe Arena.
The Spartans set the tone offensively with a 40-point first half and carried a 40-31 lead into the break behind sharp shooting (14-for-30) and seven assists. Manchester continued to build separation early in the second half, leaning on ball movement and a barrage from deep to keep Earlham at bay, finishing 8-for-18 from three as a team.
Talan Boehler delivered a huge day from the perimeter, drilling six three-pointers on the way to a game-high 20 points. Max Robertson matched that production with 16 points, seven rebounds, three steals, and two assists while playing the full 40 minutes. Clay McCorkle added 16 points, six assists, and a pair of steals to keep the offense humming, and Ty Lynas chipped in seven points, 10 rebounds, and five assists as Manchester controlled the glass and shared the ball.
Earlham made things interesting late, trimming the margin to five in the final minute, but McCorkle calmly knocked down two free throws with 28 seconds left to seal it. Manchester finished the afternoon shooting 29-for-54 overall (53.7%) with 17 assists, turning defense into offense with 14 points off turnovers and 13 fast-break points.
