BATTLE CREEK, Mich. - The Manchester University men's tennis team opened the 2019 spring season with a 5-4 victory over Alma College in Michigan on Friday afternoon.  

The Spartan duo of Bailey Buhrt (Warsaw, Ind. / Warsaw) and Samuel Hollingsworth (New Castle, Ind. / Blue River Valley) earned a 8-2 victory at No. 2 doubles.  Dalton Bailey (Bourbon, Ind. / Triton) and Gavin Eads (Bourbon, Ind. / Triton) paired for a 8-7 (4) at No. 3 doubles.

In singles action against the Fighting Scots, Isaac Miller (Millersburg Ind. / Fairfield) earned a hard-fought victory, 4-6, 7-6 (6), 10-5 win at the No. 2 flight.  At No. 4 singles, Hollingsworth picked up a 6-1,6-1 victory.  Andrew Kibler (Cape Coral, Fla. / Mariner) rounded our the Manchester victory with a 2-6,6-2, 10-5 victory at No. 5 singles.

Manchester improved to 1-0 this spring and 2-2 in 2018-19.  The Spartans will take on NAIA-member Bethel (Ind.) at home on March 28.  Match time is set for 2:45 p.m.
