Box Score NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – The Manchester University women's basketball team dropped a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference matchup to visiting Franklin College on Saturday January 18. The Grizzlies' offense was difficult to contain as Franklin topped Manchester by a final score of 89-64.
Franklin College shot 33-73 (45 percent) on Saturday afternoon and too advantage of its free throw shooting opportunities. The Griz finished 21-26 (81 percent) at the free throw line. FC also used its size to dominant the paint and the boards. Franklin outscored the Spartans 54-14 in the paint and outrebounded MU 51-36.
The Spartans were limited to 29.3 percent (17-58) shooting on Saturday.
Freshman Hannah Lindsey (Speedway, Ind./Speedway) scored a career-high 18 points against Franklin. Lindsey made a trio of 3-pointers and grabbed nine rebounds. Sophomore Bridget Nash (Carmel, Ind./Bishop Chatard) also scored in double figures, finishing the afternoon with 13 points. Nash also collected four steals.
Manchester (7-8, 4-4 HCAC) will host Bluffton University in Stauffer-Wolfe Arena at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday January 22.
Franklin improved to 9-5, 5-3 HCAC with the victory.
