CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. – The Manchester University wrestling team earned a 38-12 head-to-head victory over Kentucky Wesleyan to begin the Max Servies Duals on Saturday afternoon at Wabash College.
Manchester also faced off against #4 Wabash and #23 Millikin.

Against KWU, Josh Stephenson (Muncie, Ind./Yorktown) won by decision at 125-lbs. Both Jordan Napier (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian) and JaVon Phillips (Centerville, Ind./Centerville) won by falls in their respective 141-lbs. and 149-lbs. bouts.
Joel Arney (Fort Wayne, Ind./Carroll) added a tech fall victory at 157-lbs. Both Tyler Leonhard (Portland, Ind./Jay County) and Shane Stits (Center Grove, Ind./Center Grove) won by decision at 165-lbs. and 174-lbs.
Against national power Wabash College, Arney battled to a 3-2 decision in his 157-lbs. bout against Andy Posledni. JaVon Phillips added a 7-1 decision for the Black and Gold.
The Spartans concluded the day with a matchup against #23 Millikin. Jordan Napier, JaVon Phillips, and Joel Arney each pinned their opponents. Tyler Leonhard added a major decision victory at 165-lbs.
The Spartans will travel to New Jersey next weekend to compete at the Stevens Tech Duals in Hoboken. Manchester will compete on January 25.
