Box Score CINCINNATI, Ohio – The MU women's hoops squad was defeated by Mount St. Joseph University in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action by a final score of 79-56.
The Lions built a double-digit advantage in the first half due in large part to their perimeter shooting. MSJ opened Saturday's contest by knocking down seven of its first 12 3-point field goal attempts.
Mount made 50 percent of its field goals through two quarters of action, while limiting the Spartans to 28 percent shooting.
For the game, the host Lions went 28-54 (52 percent) from the floor and made 10 3-pointers. The Lions shot 13-16 from the free throw line and outrebounded the Spartans 39-27.
Manchester was limited to 34 percent (19-56) field goal shooting. The Spartans shot 27 percent (7-26) from downtown.
Macy Miller (Huntertown, Ind./Carroll) led the Black and Gold with 17 points and five rebounds. Miranda Bieghler (Plainfield, Ind./South Putnam) added 13 points. Abby Walker (Dayton, Ohio/Cloverdale) chipped in 11 points. Walker went 4-8 off the bench and was 3-6 from 3-point territory.
Manchester (8-9, 5-5 HCAC) will host Rose-Hulman on Wednesday January 29. Tip-off from Stauffer-Wolfe Arena is set for 7:30 p.m.
Mount St. Joseph (5-12, 4-6 HCAC) will host Hanover College on Wednesday January 29.
