Manchester Edged in Road Battle at Bluffton

BLUFFTON, Ohio – The Manchester University women's basketball team was narrowly edged on Thursday night, falling on the road at Bluffton University by a final score of 65-55.

After heading into halftime tied at 28, Bluffton squeaked to a 10-point victory after outscoring the Black & Gold 18-12 and 19-15 in the third and fourth quarters.

Manchester, playing its second game of the 2020-21 campaign, was held to 34.6% (18-52) shooting for the game. Manchester was also limited to 3-15 (20%) shooting from three-point territory.

Bluffton, playing its first contest of the season, shot just 32.4% (24-74) on Thursday night. The Beavers went 7-28 from downtown, good for 25%.

Bluffton forced the Spartans into 23 turnovers and the BU bench managed to outscore Manchester's bench 33-6.

Forward Tiara Jackson (East Chicago, Ind./Central) registered her first career double double after scoring 19 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. Jackson led all scorers on Thursday night and shot 7-11 from the floor against Bluffton. 

Junior guard Bridget Nash (Carmel, Ind./Bishop Chatard) finished with 17 points. Nash shot 6-14 from the field. She added three boards.

Angel Schneider led Bluffton with 11 points. Sammy Shardo was the only other Beaver to score in double figures, finishing the game with 10 points. Bluffton's balance offense saw 11 players score.

Bluffton (1-0) and Manchester (0-2) will play again in the Sommer Center in Ohio on Saturday, Nov. 14. Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
