NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – The Manchester University wrestling team won a hard-fought 27-23 dual against Trine in the team's home finale on Thursday evening in Stauffer-Wolfe Arena.
Elijah Phillips (Centerville, Ind./Centerville) got the Black and Gold on the scoreboard with a pin at 133-lbs. Freshman Ellisston Ross (Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington South) added a 5-3 decision at 157-lbs.
In the 165-lbs matchup, Sophomore Jeremiah Ford (Southport, Ind./Southport) pinned Trine's Efrain Amezquita, giving the Spartans a 21-8 lead in the match.
The Thunder closed the gap on the scoreboard following a decision at 174-lbs and a pin at 184-lbs.
Manchester clinched the dual victory after a thrilling bout at 197-lbs. Freshman Jasper Donaldson (Wabash, Ind./Northfield) was awarded the pin after an extremely close and competitive bout with Trine's Chase Gibson.
The Spartans will head to Crawfordsville this Saturday, February 15, for the Mid-States Invitational.
