NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – The Manchester University men's tennis team fell in is 2020 spring opener at the MU Tennis Courts to Franklin College on Sunday afternoon. The visiting Grizzlies captured a 9-0 victory.

In doubles action, Isaac Miller (Millersburg, Ind./Fairfield) and Samuel Hollingsworth (New Castle, Ind./Blue River Valley) narrowly fell at the No. 1 slot, 8-6.

At No. 5 singles, freshman Austin Arnold (Coatesville, Ind./South Putnam) battled Franklin's Matt Leming in three sets before eventually falling 6-3, 4-6, 10-3. Blake Rentschler's (Griffith, Ind./Bishop Noll) singles match at the No. 6 flight against Alexander Pollard also went to three sets, with Pollard emerging with a hard-fought 6-3, 3-6, 10-5.

The Spartans (1-6, 0-1 HCAC) will be back in action in two weeks against the St. Francis (Ind.) Cougars. That match will take place on Sunday March 22 at 12 p.m. at the MU Tennis Courts.
