Box Score CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. – The Manchester University men's tennis team returned to action for the first time since the fall on Saturday, February 20. The Black & Gold competed on the road at Wabash College to kickoff its 2021 spring campaign.
The Spartans were edged by the Little Giants by a final tally of 6-3 on Saturday.
All three doubles matches were close and hard-fought. Wabash's duo of Reese Long and Liam Grennon edged MU's Isaac Miller and Samuel Hollingsworth 8-5 at the no. 1 flight. At no. 2 doubles, Cole Burden and Paul Hargitt topped Andrew Kibler and Austin Arnold by a very narrow 8-6 margin. Little Giants Reed Mathis and Trevor McKinney topped Blake Rentschler and Connor Glenn at the no. 3 position 8-5.
Manchester did earn a trio of victories in singles action on Saturday afternoon. Isaac Miller (Millersburg, Ind./Fairfield) battled to at 6-3, 2-6, 10-5 victory at the no. 1 position. Andrew Kibler (Cape Coral, Fla./Mariner) earned a 7-6, 7-5 victory at no. 3 singles. Austin Arnold (Coatesville, Ind./South Putnam) added a 6-4, 6-0 triumph at no. 4 singles.
The Black & Gold will compete against Olivet College next weekend on Sunday, February 28, in Battle Creek, Mich.
