ADA, Ohio – The Manchester University indoor track & field teams were back in action for the second consecutive weekend on Friday night. The Spartans competed in the Larry Cole Friday Night Invite hosted at Ohio Northern University.
Results
Six event wins highlighted another strong week of performances by the Spartans. Additionally, another school record was set.
- Enrique Salazar (Plymouth, Ind./Plymouth) won two events on Friday. Salazar posted the top time in the men's mile, crossing the ticker at 4:17.78. His time was a new career-best and moved him up to 2nd all-time on the Manchester Top 10 listings. Additionally, Salazar won the 800m with a final time of 2:02.26. His time the 800m was a new Larry Cole Friday Night Invite meet record.
- Joseph Powell (Beach Park, Ill./Zion Benton) added an event win triple jump. His best mark of 12.38m stands as the 7th-best mark in school history.
- Ben Villafuerte (Angola, Ind./Angola) took home top honors in the shot put. Villafuerte won the last event of the evening with a leading mark of 14.84m. His mark was a new career-best and moved him up to 2nd all-time in school history.
- Adelle Stanko (Okemos, Mich./Okemos) also won the triple jump on Friday night. Her best mark of 10.03m catapulted her up to 4th on the all-time Manchester Top 10 rankings.
- Hannah Brubaker (Goshen, Ind./NorthWood) won the 5000m. Her time of 19:04.06 was good enough for 9th all-time at Manchester
- Quentin Willis (Athens, Ga./Oglethorpe) ran a time of 8.71 seconds in the opening heat of the 60m hurdles. His time in the prelims was a new Manchester school record. Willis would go on to place fifth in the finals with a time of 8.97 seconds.

Men
- Gabe Melvin (Jacksonville, Fla./Atlantic Coast) earned a second-place in the 60m dash (7.12 – 7th all-time on the Manchester Top 10 listings).
- Men's 4-x-200 meter relay team of Gabe Melvin, Tristen Bronaugh, Quentin Willis, and Duriel Moss Jr. earned a second-place finish (1:35.16 – 4th all-time in program history).
- Thomas Richardson (Ladoga, Ind./Southmont) second-place in the 3000m.
- Timothy Macomber (Angola, Ind./Angola) placed second in the shot put (13.76m – 9th all-time in school history).
- Connor Havens (LaPorte, Ind./LaPorte) ran to a third-place finish in the 800m (2:05.77).
- Joseph Powell earned a third-place finish in the long jump (5.95m).
Women
The Manchester men ended in a tie-for-second-place with 108 points. Ohio Wesleyan also scored 108 points. The Ohio Northern men led Friday's field with 179 points. The Manchester women placed third with 86 points. The Ohio Northern women led the field with 158 points.
The Manchester indoor track & field teams will be off next weekend and are then scheduled to return to action on Friday February 5 at DePauw. Meet time is scheduled for 5 p.m.
