Greencastle, Ind. - Manchester University turned in a strong, balanced performance Saturday at the Indiana Division III Track & Field Championships at DePauw University, earning a third-place finish on the women's side and fourth place on the men's side.
The Manchester women were powered by dominant results in the throwing events and a championship effort on the track. Ava Egolf secured a conference title in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, winning in 11:38.94 to give the Spartans a key individual victory. The throws circle proved to be a major point engine throughout the meet, led by Abbi Kohler, who captured two event titles by winning the shot put with a mark of 12.12 meters and the discus at 37.20 meters. Kohler also added a runner-up finish in the hammer throw at 46.79 meters.
Manchester claimed the top three places in the shot put, with Charlotte Wilson finishing second at 11.78 meters and Reagan Claus taking third at 11.30 meters. Wilson also added a sixth-place finish in the discus and eighth in the hammer, while Claus was runner-up in the discus. Katrina Sejour delivered another standout performance, winning the hammer throw with a mark of 51.85 meters and placing seventh in the discus. Mady Rees contributed with a third-place finish in the javelin.
On the track, Chesnee Miller recorded a pair of strong distance performances, placing fourth in the 800 meters and third in the 1,500 meters. In the 5,000 meters, Kadence Fox finished fifth and Rylee Stephany placed eighth. Manchester also earned points in the high jump, where Samantha Stetzel finished second with a clearance of 1.53 meters.
The Manchester men turned in several championship performances of their own. Gavin Byerly completed an impressive distance double, winning both the 800 meters in 1:56.26 and the 1,500 meters in 3:55.07. In the 10,000 meters, Darius Osborn claimed the conference title with a winning time of 32:38.62, while teammate Logan Ferris finished third for a strong scoring effort.
Manchster also picked up event victories in the field. Matthew Armstrong won the high jump with a clearance of 1.86 meters, while Kenneth Redd captured the long jump title with a mark of exactly 7.00 meters. Gentry Oliver finished fourth in the long jump and placed fifth in the 100-meter dash. Manchester's 4x100-meter relay team earned a third-place finish to add additional points.
Other scoring performances included Austin Johnson's third-place finish in the 5,000 meters, Jonah Miller's seventh-place effort in the steeplechase, and multiple contributions across the throwing events.
Manchester concluded the championships with 116 points to finish third in the women's standings and totaled 101 points to place fourth on the men's side, showcasing depth and competitiveness across both programs.
