Spartan Volleyball Hosts Tri-Match

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. - The Manchester Volleyball team played host to Earlham College and Huntington University over the weekend.  

Manchester faced HCAC opponent, Earlham, first on the day.  The match was hard-fought, going into five sets.  Each set was close in score, but the Quakers remained victorious.  The Spartans fell short 15-10 in the 5th set, giving Earlham the match, 3-2. 

Carley Camp (Logansport, Ind., Logansport), Avery Ball (Decatur, Ind., Belmont), and Halle Planck (Gas City, Ind., Mississinewa) played aggressive at the net, totaling 33 kills together to lead the team.  Carly Ripberger (Tipton, Ind./Tipton) led the Spartans in assists with 26, and Jessica Tarr (Fort Wayne, Ind., Snider) chipped in with 15. Rachael Ressler (Tipton, Ind., Tipton) and Avery Ball led the defense in digs, with Ball having 18 and Ressler recorded 17.  

As the match concluded, Earlham and Huntington competed against each other.  Huntington won the match 3-1.

The Spartans faced Huntington for game two in the evening.  Huntington took the match in three sets.

Leading the team in digs was Avery Ball with 8 and
Pipar Wade (Union Mills, Ind., South Central) with 6. Ripberger led in assists with 9, which set up Joy Maze (Greenwood, Ind., Greenwood Community) and Carley Camp with 6 kills each.  

The Spartans will face Defiance College on Wednesday, October 12th, in HCAC play.  Match time is set for 6:30pm in Ohio.
