Spartans Top Grizzlies in Five Sets

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – The Manchester University volleyball team edged out Franklin in five sets on Thursday, October 20. The Spartans defended their home court by claiming the match by set scores of 25-14, 16-25, 25-14, 21-25, and 15-9.
 
Joy Maze (Greenwood, Ind., Greenwood Community) led the Black and Gold with 14 kills on a strong .323 hitting percentage. First Year Reese Czarniecki (Chesterton, Ind., Chesterton) had three solo blocks and four block assists for the Spartans.
 
Carly Ripberger (Tipton, Ind., Tipton) added 22 assists for MU while Senior Rachael Ressler (Tipton, Ind., Tipton) led Manchester with 26 digs. MU improves to 13-13, 2-4 HCAC with the win.
 
The Grizzlies hit .066 in Thursday's match. Miranda Wilson finished with 12 kills, and Trinity Schroeder added two solo blocks and five block assists for Franklin. Billie Jarrett had 30 assists and two kills on the night. Franklin falls to 8-14, 2-5 HCAC.
 
Manchester will look to add another to the win column on Saturday, October 22. The Spartans will honor its seniors during Saturday's Homecoming matchup against the Transylvania Pioneers at 7:00 p.m.
