NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. - The Manchester volleyball team honored its senior class prior to Saturday's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference match against visiting Transylvania Pioneers. MU recognized Rachael Ressler (Tipton, Ind., Tipton), Sara Shultz (Churubusco, Ind., East Noble), Halle Planck (Gas City, Ind., Mississinewa), Helaina Walters (Marion, Ind., Eastbrook), Amanda Warren (Chesterfield, Mich., Austin Catholic), Arielle O'Neal (Bluffton, Ohio, Bluffton) during an on-court ceremony in Stauffer-Wolfe Arena.
Transylvania topped the Spartans in four sets, with set scores of 25-17, 25-21, 22-25, and 25-18.
Cate Scheper led the Pioneers with 16 kills on the night on 37 attempts and a .297 hitting percentage. Isabella Myers led Transylvania with an impressive .421 hitting percent on 19 attempts. Defensively, Sylvie Miller had a team-high 15 digs on the night, while Kayden Holcomb and Grace Ward added four total blocks each. Following Saturday's match, the Pioneers remained perfect in conference play, improving to 20-5, 8-0 HCAC and extending their win streak to 11 straight games.
Halle Planck and Joy Maze (Greenwood, Ind., Greenwood Community) led the Spartans in kills, both with 11 each. Carley Camp (Logansport, Ind., Logansport) swung .353 percent on the night on 17 attempts. Defensively, Rachael Ressler collected 13 digs in the libero position, while Reese Czarniecki (Chesterton, Ind., Chesterton) put-up four total blocks on the night. Manchester falls to 12-14, 2-5 HCAC.
Manchester will host rival Anderson University on Wednesday, October 26 in Stauffer-Wolfe Arena. Match time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Following Wednesday's match, the Spartans will hit the road for another HCAC matchup against the Mount St. Joseph Lions to end regular season play.
