Women's Tennis Claims 8-1 Victory Over Albion

North Manchester, Ind. – The Spartans played host to Brits of Albion College on Wednesday at the MU Tennis Courts, claiming the match with a team score of 8-1.
 
Manchester started strong in doubles action, claiming all three points. The No. 1 pair of Eva Bazzoni (Wabash, Ind., Manchester) and Evelyn Minton (Clarksville, Ind., Jeffersonville) and the second pair of Ella Knight (Leesburg, Ind., Kalamazoo) and Natalie Kotlin (Lowell, Ind., Lowell) each won with matching 8-3 scores. The third pair of Courtney Trusty (North Judson, Ind., North Judson) and Heather Binion (Lebanon, Ind., Lebanon) claimed their match 8-5.
 
In singles play, it was more of the same for the Spartans. Knight made short work of her opponent with a 6-0, 6-0 score at the top flight. Bazzoni picked up another point at No. 2 singles with a 6-4, 6-1 victory. At three, Minton claimed a 6-3, 6-2 victory while Trusty won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4 singles. Kotlin picked up her first singles victory at MU with a 6-0, 6-1 decision at No. 5 singles. The last singles match of the evening was a much tighter contest. Jordyn Riegle (Attica, Ind., Attica) won the first set, but fell in a match tiebreak 6-3, 6-7(5), [6-10] for the lone point for the Brits.
 
Manchester next hosts Transylvania on Sunday in their final regular-season conference contest of the fall. The match is slated to start at 1 PM.
