Bazzoni’s Big Night Sends Spartans to Win in Regular Season Finale at Anderson

ANDERSON, Ind. – First-year guard Eva Bazzoni scored a season-high 36 points and helped guide the Spartans to an 82-76 victory in the team's regular season finale at Anderson on Friday night.

Bazzoni (Wabash, Ind./Manchester) soared past her previous season-high of 23 points scored in the season opener at Rockford back on November 6. Bazzoni notched 26 of Manchester's 49 points in the opening half. Bazzoni torched the nets in the opening two periods after shooting 10-13 from the field and 5-7 from three-point territory. Manchester led 49-32 at halftime.

The first-year guard continued her hot play following halftime, scoring 10 clutch points in the final quarter. For the game, Bazzoni shot 13-21 from the field and was 6-10 from three-point range. Her 36 points were the third-most points scored in a single game in Manchester history and were the most points scored by a Spartan in a single-game in 17 years (2004-05 season).

Senior Macy Miller (Huntertown, Ind./Carroll) also had a huge performance for the Spartans on Friday night. Miller posted her fourth career double-double, finishing with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Miller shot 9-16 from the floor and was a perfect 3-3 from the charity stripe.

For the game, the Spartans shot 47 percent (31-66) from the floor. The Black & Gold also shot 46.7 percent (7-15) from distance while adding a 72 percent (13-18) clip from the charity stripe.

Anderson ended Friday's game shooting 42.4 percent (28-66). Manchester's defense limited Anderson to 34.8 percent (8-23) shooting from downtown. The Black & Gold held a 40-35 rebounding advantage in Friday's win.

The Spartans conclude the regular season with an overall record of 8-14, 5-10 HCAC. With Mt. St. Joseph dropping out of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament, the Spartans will replace the Lions as the no. 8 seed and will travel to top-seeded Transylvania on Sunday February 20 for a 3 p.m. matchup with the Pioneers. 

Anderson dropped to 10-14, 7-10 HCAC. The Ravens will be the no. 6 seed and will travel to no. 3 seed Hanover College on Sunday February 20 for the Opening Round of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament.
