Spartan Volleyball Travels to Rose-Hulman for Weekend Invite

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Manchester volleyball team traveled to Terre Haute, Ind. over the weekend to compete in the Rose-Hulman Invitational.  The Spartans faced Rose-Hulman, Concordia University Chicago, and Illinois Tech. 

In game one of the weekend, the Spartans faced the Fighting Engineers and lost 3-1 in four sets.  Manchester's defense had 83 digs and 9 blocks.  Leading in blocks was
Carley Camp (Logansport, Ind., Logansport) with 7. Camp also contributed with 11 kills in the match. Jessica Tarr (Fort Wayne, Ind., Snider) had 40 assists to contribute to Manchester's 49 kills.   

In game two, Manchester played against Concordia Chicago in five sets.  After a competitive performance by both teams, Concordia Chicago eventually took the 5th set, making the Spartans lose 3-2.  Halle Planck (Gas City, Ind./Mississinewa) led the team in kills with 14, followed by
Avery Ball (Decatur, Ind., Belmont), and Carley Camp with 13 and 12. Brielle Schultz (Decatur, Ind., Adams Central) contributed defensively by leading with 6 of Manchester's 14 blocks. Helaina Walters (Marion, Ind., Eastbrook), Jessica Tarr, and Ball had 56 of the Spartans' 75 digs in the match. 

To end the weekend, Manchester played their last match and lost 3-0 to Illinois Tech. Jessica Tarr led the team in kills and assists with 10 each. Carley Camp and
Reese Czarniecki (Chesterton, Ind., Chesterton) chipped in with kills, having 5 and 2 respectively. Ball led with 11 digs. 

Even though the weekend ended 0-3, the Spartans' performances were not overlooked. Carley Camp was selected for the all-tournament team alongside seven other players from the tournament.    

The Spartans' next match-up is against the St. Mary's College Belles on Wednesday, September 28th.  Match time is set for 7pm in Notre Dame.
