Swimming & Diving Returns to Action at Illinois Tech Tri-Meet

CHICAGO, Ill. - The Manchester University swimming and diving teams traveled to Chicago to compete in the Illinois Tech Tri-Meet on Saturday, January 14. The Spartans competed against host Illinois Institute of Technology and North Central College.

The Spartans tied with North Central College 75-75 and lost to Illinois Institute of Technology 140-54.

Eamin Lynch (South Bend, Ind., John Adams) took first place in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:07.21.

Rayann Nowacki (Lake Station, Ind., Thomas Edison)took first place in the 1- meter diving event with a score of 95.20.

Other podium finished for MU:

The 200 yard medley relay team consisting of Alix Oden (Markle, Ind., Norwell), Megan Pierce (Bloomington, Ind., Edgewood), and Ashlynn Malloy (Mooresville, Ind., Mooresville) took third with a time of 2:11.63.
Lynch secured second place in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:15.63.
Malloy finished the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 28.50, good enough for second place.
Malloy also took third in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:04.47.
Alexis Ferguson (Franklin, Ind., Franklin Community) took third place in the 200-yard IM, touching the wall in a time of 3:01.06.
Pierce finished the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:25.01, good enough for third place.

The Manchester swimming and diving teams will return to the pool on Saturday, January 21. The Spartans will travel to Bethel University to compete in the Bethel Tri-Meet. Event time is slated for 1:00 p.m.
