ANDERSON, Ind. - The Manchester swimming and diving teams opened the 2023-24 season at the Anderson Tri-Meet on Friday, October 14.
The women's team defeated Anderson 99-81 and lost to Olivet 108-86.
First-year
Stephanie Roman (Beaver Falls, Pa., Blackhawk) led the women's team with two first place finishes in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle.
Roman finished the 50-yard free with a time of 26.56 and the 100-yard free with a time of 58.97.
Eamin Lynch (South Bend, Ind., John Adams) almost grabbed a first place finish in the 100-yard backstroke, touching the wall in a time of 1:06.38. Lynch also took second in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:14.40.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team consisting of
Roman,
Lynch,
Alix Oden (Markle, Ind., Norwell), and
Ashlynn Malloy (Mooresville, Ind., Mooresville) took first with a time of 1:49.71.
Up next, the Spartans will travel to Crawfordsville, Ind. to compete in the Indiana Division III meet hosted by Wabash College. Diving events start at 9:30 a.m. Swimming events will begin at 1:00 p.m.
