CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Manchester University football team suffered a road Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference defeat at Mount St. Joseph University on Saturday, September 30.
The Lions racked up 665 yards of total offense. Mount St. Joseph ran for six scored and were led on the ground by running back Johnathan Rager's 89 yards. Mariano Mckenzie added 71 yards and a touchdown. The Lions' quarterbacks Josh Taylor and Tyler Prather threw for a combined 302 yards and four touchdowns during Saturday's contest. Wide receiver Joey Newton hauled in six passes for 111 yards.
The Spartans finished with 149 yards of offense. Manchester quarterbacks Eric and Trevor threw for a combined 149 yards with one touchdown. First-year wide receiver KRJ led with 49 yards on three receptions. DMJ added 37 receiving yards with one touchdown, while LL hauled in three passes for 34 yards.Â

Josiah Ansorena-Smith (Ludowici, Ga., Long County)Â 90-yard kickoff return that put the Black and Gold on the board in the 2
nd quarter. For the Spartans' other score of the game,Â
Eric James (Indianapolis, Ind., Decatur Central)Â connected with
Duriel Moss Jr. (Homestead, Fla., Christopher Columbus)Â for a 13-yard touchdown pass in the 4
th quarter.
Defensively, the Black and Gold were led by
Dave Paul (Dearborn, Mich., Annapolis) with 12 total tackles.
Jamaal Hubbard (Russelville, Ala., Russelville) added 10 tackles, while Â
Devontay Moore (Indianapolis, Ind., North Central) had six total tackles with an interception.Â
Manchester (0-4, 0-1 HCAC) will host Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology during Homcoming on the campus of Manchester University on Saturday, October 7. Game time between the Spartans and Fightin' Engineers is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
