NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. - The Manchester University women's volleyball team defeated Earlham College in the first round of the 2023 HCAC Volleyball Tournament on November 8.
After a back-and-forth battle with both teams looking to take control of Wednesday night's match, the Spartans would take set one by a final score of 26-24. Manchester would complete the sweep, taking sets two and three by set scores of 25-23 and 25-22.
As a team, Manchester hit .177 during Wednesday night's match, with 46 kills. The Quakers hit .112 as a team.
Joy Maze (Greenwood, Ind., Greenwood Community) led the Black and Gold with 12 kills.
Carley Camp (
Logansport, Ind.,
Logansport) hit .476 on the night with 11 kills.
Camp also had a team-high seven total blocks.
Emma Tone (Fort Wayne, Ind., Bishop Dwenger) collected 22 assists during the three-set win.
Tiffany Watterson (Elkhart, Ind., Elkhart) led with 16 digs, while
Avery Ball (Decatur, Ind., Belmont) added 14 digs for the Spartans.
With the win, Manchester advances to the HCAC Semifinals for the first time since 2015 to take on the host #14 Mount St. Joseph Lions on Saturday, November 11. Match time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. in Cincinnati, Ohio.
