Manchester Heads to Anderson on Friday

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – The Manchester University men's basketball team will conclude the regular season on the road against rival Anderson University on Friday, February 17. Tip-off between the Spartans and Ravens is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in O.C. Lewis Gymnasium.

2023 HCAC Tournament

  • Both Anderson and Manchester will have first round tournament byes as the top 2 seeds.  
    • The winner of Friday night's game between AU and MU will be the #1 seed and host the HCAC semi-finals and finals, and the loser will be the #2 seed.

Manchester Notes – 15-9, 13-4 HCAC

  • The Spartans defeated the Bluffton Beavers 84-62 on Tuesday night. Zach Sawyer  Manchester with 23 points, going a perfect 12-12 the free throw line. Sawyer also added 1 block and 3 steals for the Spartans. Ty Lynas finished the night with 13 points, while Bryant Smith scored 12 points for MU. Logan Willoughby added a team-high 5 assists and 3 steals, while Coy Hampton  pulled down 7 rebounds and recorded 2 blocked shots for MU. As a team, Manchester shot 47.6% from the field, with 40 points in the paint and 23 points off turnovers. The Spartans also shot 34.6% from three-point range and 83.3% from the free throw line.
  • Bryant Smith (16.8 ppg), Zach Sawyer (16.7 ppg), and Logan Willoughby (16.5 ppg) are currently in the top-five in scoring in the HCAC. Sawyer also leads the conference in field goal percentage with 62.1%.

Anderson Notes – 16-8, 14-3 HCAC 

  • The Ravens defeated Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology by a final score of 80-66 on Tuesday night. Bryson Huckeyby led the Ravens with 21 points, while Tate Ivanyo finished the night with 17 points. Elijah Mattingly added 16 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 blocks. Camden Smith tallied 11 points and 6 assists. 
  • Tate Ivanyo is currently second in the conference in scoring, averaging 17.9 points per game. 
  • Elijah Mattingly leads the HCAC in blocked shots per game with 1.8 and three-point field goal percentage with 43.2%. 


The First Time They Met – Anderson def. Manchester 99-97

  • The rival Ravens edged the Spartans in the previous meeting earlier this season in Stauffer-Wolfe Arena.
  • Bryant Smith finished the night with a career-high 34 points, shooting 7-12 from beyond the three-point arc. Ty Lynas added 23 points while Zach Sawyer collected his second career double-double, scoring 15 points and pulling down 13 rebounds. Quentez Columbus chipped in 14 points for the Spartans and had a team-high 8 assists and 3 steals on the night. As a team, the Spartans shot 47.4% (37-78) from the field and 55.6% (10-18) from the free throw line. 
  • Camden Smith led the Ravens with 28 points during Wednesday's contest. Tate Ivanyo had a double-double after scoring 24 points and pulling down 10 rebounds for Anderson. Jordan Gadis chipped in 22 points while Gavin Dowling added 10 points for the Ravens. As a team, the Ravens shot 59.3% (32-54) from the field and 66.7% (28-42) from the free throw line.
